You may have correctly simplified to an ordinary fraction by multiplying the numerator and denominator by $\displaystyle{{x}}^{{2}}\usepackage{cmbright}\Huge\$ and then incorrectly factored the numerator and denominator. Be sure that when you factor a polynomial you are able to multiply the two factors to get the original polynomial back.
